STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
Hundreds of thousands of Immigrants and supporters of the absence of new immigration reform laws hit the streets all across America in the past weeks to protest against laws that would make it a felony for Immigrants to be in the United States illegally. I sit here, as an AMERICAN, and wonder what I can do to have my voice heard too. For those of you who don’t know what is going on here, get studying and make sure you speak up, one way or the other.
- Current U.S. Population is 297 million.
- 1.1 million Immigrants will enter the U.S. this year.
- Population growth due to immigration is at 60%.
- Population by 2050 is projected to be 420 million people due to mass immigration.
Immigration is not a victimless crime. It greatly affects those of us who are here legally, especially the poor, minorities and children. The National Academy of Sciences conducted a study on the costs of immigration and found that the taxes paid by immigrants do not cover the cost of the services that they receive. This causes a widespread decrease in the quality of education, health care, and retirement funding for Americans and legal immigrants. Furthermore, the increase of illegal immigrants willing to work at poverty levels in poor conditions decreases the wages of American workers who would do the job if they earned more than minimum wage.
This isn’t to say that we remove every illegal immigrant who came to America in search of a better life. Many illegal immigrants in the states today have been here for many years and do consider themselves Americans. Many times those people don’t know anyone in the country from where they escaped, and to send them back to that country would be like sending you to a foreign land. However, some type of reform needs to be taken.
We need a plan to control immigration that goes far beyond our borders. There are many components of immigration control that need to be reformed, from deterrence to apprehension and removal. We cannot just put up a wall and stop any more illegal immigrants from coming to America. We also cannot just provide amnesty to every person here illegally.
No matter how you look at it, there are going to be people upset about the decision that will ultimately be made. A decision that, as American citizens, we seem to be loosing out on. Everyone needs the opportunity to have their voice heard, so attend a rally, sign a petition, write your congressman or the President himself, but don’t just sit back and watch this all unfold in front of you. You will have no one to blame but yourself when your taxes are raised, your quality of healthcare is decreased, and your children’s education is below average.
SIGN THE PETITONS ON THE LEFT!!!
My personal opinion! Let’s just open up the borders, call it all California, so I can move down south and buy dirt cheap real estate on white sand beaches. Then we will all be happy.
Whittier area students from Pioneer, California and Whittier high schools walked out of classes to protest the proposed federal immigration bill March 27, 2006. The protestors put up the Mexican flag over the American flag flying upside down at Montebello High. This is one of the highest disrespects to our nation and what we as "AMERICANS" stand for!!
The ignorant girl above protests and holds up a sign that says "Fuck the Law". Do these people deserve to be in our country?
You decide! Sign the petitions and have your voice heard. This is getting out of control.
